My name is Amaal and I am currently living in Egypt (Misr). I've lived here almost 3 years. Upon arrival, one of the first things I noticed was the difference in food. Take-Out is easy because you have a variety of restaurants to choose from, but when it comes to a home-cooked meal, things get a little tricky. Especially if you don't speak the Arabic language. The first year was rough but I lost lots of weight :).I'm learning how to substitute and simply MAKE IT IN MISR!!!

Baked French Toast
Okay it's been a while, blame my schedule not me :). So lately I've been using this amazing recipe book "The Eleven Year Collection" by Sally Hassan. It's an amazing book, but I realized in the breakfast section there was no recipe for her baked French Toast. Because of the time difference I didn't expect for her to be on Facebook sooooooo, I came up with my own recipe and it goes a little something like this:
Ingredients:
6 Eggs
7-8 cups French bread or Feno chopped
1/3 cup Sugar
1/2 tbsp molasses
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/3 cup milk
Pre-heat over to 375 degrees F
6 eggs
French bread or Feno chopped
Mix sugar and molasses to make brown sugar (sorry I forgot to take a picture, but stir until it is brown and well mixed)
Vanilla extract and Cinnamon
Milk
Beat eggs in a bowl
Add brown sugar (molasses & sugar) mix well
Add cinnamon and vanilla extract
Add milk
Egg mix and Bread (I used feno)
melt butter in a pan and make sure butter is around the entire pan so your bread won't stick and for flavor
mix bread with egg mix
place it in your pan
bake approx 20 min bottom should be brown, do not overcook
Serve with my homemade syrup or the syrup of your liking
ENJOY!!!
